The standard by which all others shall be judged

Manhattan, in Manhattan

Manhattan, in Manhattan

The Manhattan; in Manhattan.

Arrive early at the One World observatory; top of the new World Trade Center.
Set up camp; with a view. Sunset isn’t that far away.

The Manhattan is lavishly prepared. Starting with what I would regard as a lavish amount of Jack Daniels, a dash of vermouth and bitters elegantly balance the aroma; in spite of which, it is positively fuming before being placed in front of me.

Ice; a cocktail shaker; strained, then perfectly poured.
The glass rim is lit up with a rub of orange peel.
A dark cherry appears buoyant in the finish.

Serve.
Savour.

I rate this ten out of ten.

I have another.
